Modeling and Optimizing Realistic Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RISs)

Abstract: This is a technical talk that is split in six main parts: A very brief introduction to RISs; A detailed description of a new electromagnetic-compliant path-loss odel; A detailed description of a new electromagnetic compliant end-to-end system model for an RIS-aided wireless system in the presence of a nonhomogenizable RIS; A new optimization framework for RIs-aided wireless system in the presence of a non-homogenizable RIS and the discussion of the gains offered by RISs; The emerging concept of metasurface-based modulation as the most advanced version of spatial modulation; A summary of recent results.
